After creating this initial work, I had no idea what i was aiming for with the original clay piece.  I set it aside until I could figure it out.  It's amazing what the subconsious can create.       I could only measure it based on design principles and aesthetics.  I could not help but to think, it just looks like a Medusa head.   I did some research and discovered what I could not explain with my lack on knowledge.
